The Executive Mayor of DA-led Cape Winelands District Municipality, Helena von Schlicht, hosted a Mayor’s Breakfast on the 19th of June 2018 in Stellenbosch to engage with local businessmen, farmers and other opinion makers within the region.

The breakfast created an opportunity to meet informally with influential people within the district and to discuss issues and challenges experienced in the hopes of building partnerships to assist and promote a sustainable future for the Cape Winelands District Municipality.

The Mayor was joined by the Executive Mayor of Stellenbosch, Gesie van Deventer, members of Parliament, James Vos and Erik Marais, as well as the municipal managers of both municipalities.

Various topics were discussed including concerns about violent crime, the availability of sports opportunities and youth activities. The attendees also expressed their gratitude for the continued maintenance of rural and dirt roads, the building of bus stops at schools and the rapid reaction of fire services.

Executive Mayor Helena von Schlicht said that despite the challenges faced by the district, they are still committed to achieving the vision of “sustainable development.”
