Groot Brakrivier celebrates its youth café

Mossel Bay municipality partnered up with the Western Cape Department of Social Development and PetroSA to establish a youth café in Groot Brakrivier.

The youth café which cost R6.5 million was established and provides a one-stop service for young people between the ages of 15-34 with a particular focus on youth development and education. Programs and skills training development is on offer at the youth café and is aimed at empowering the Groot Brakrivier youth and the larger Mossel Bay area.

The youth café, which opened its doors in June this year includes the following programs and training for young people:

  • Computer skills
  • Digital education
  • Entrepreneurship skills
  • Leadership development skills
  • Project management and many more.

The youth café includes a computer centre with internet facilities as well as a coffee shop and training facilities. They are open from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00.
