New hope was given to residents in Heidelberg when MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela and executive mayor of Hessequa municipality Grant Riddles handed over homes and title deeds to residents.

Minister Madikizela and executive mayor Riddles addressed these residents in the Duivenhoks Community Hall in March 2019 where they handed over 148 title deeds. This event forms part of the Heidelberg Dieploof Integrated Residential Development Programme (IRDP) housing project that was constructed in 2016.

The recipients of these title deeds were overjoyed during this occasion. They marked this as the day where their lives changed. A few residents stated that this was the best thing that could have ever happened to them and their family as they now had the opportunity to hand down these homes to the generations who come after them.

Executive mayor Grant Riddles said that it was truly a privilege that he got to witness the smiles and different emotions that handing over these title deeds brought to the recipients. The mayor also encouraged the recipients of these title deeds to use them to their advantage and to the advantage of the generation that will come after them.
